Has anyone rescued a dog from Romania?

We're looking for a second dog - a companion to our adopted 6 yr old dog - and someone has brought a particular dog to our attention on a Romanion rescue site who looks to be a good match.

The site is called Save and Hope. Has anyone heard of it or had dealings with it? Does anyone know how to find out if it's legit or not?

This wasn't an adoption route that had crossed my mind up to now and the last thing I want to do is support any illegal trading in animals, although costs only appear to cover vaccination, worming, transport etc and not profit ifysim.

Any guidance/advice out there please?

Not sure what sort of dog you want OP but try blackretrieverx rescue on Facebook.

They have some absolutely beautiful dogs in if collie/retriever/spaniel/labs are your type and rehome allover the UK.

Greyhorses I nearly posted that too. Great rescue and offer real support after carefully matching dogs to best homes.

Wolfie I am a Shepherd lady through and through but I am often tempted by the lovely looking black and white fluffy things they have They seem very well ran too from what I’ve seen!

Thanks for further suggestions but just to reiterate - UK rescue centres are NOT an option for me (believe me I've tried!) - because we live in continental Europe zone one.

@Greyhorses I am a wolfhound fan. Hence the name. By by goodness some of those dogs. Mind you I was smitten with a SBT I met the other week too.

Something good has come out of this research as it happens. I have found a breed specific adoption site (same breed as our current dog) in France that has one branch/contact in our country too; so there may be a possible way forward after all!
