Recommendations for dog friendly hotels......

We've unexpectedly got the chance to go away for a few days, and I've been looking at dog friendly hotels but most seem to say that you have to leave the dog in your room when you eat. Ours would howl the place down if we left him and I'm just wondering if anyone has stayed anywhere where dogs are welcome everywhere! Don't really fancy eating breakfast and evening meal in shifts

Anywhere in particular? Gunton Arms in Norfolk is v dog friendly, can have dog with you whilst you eat. Massive deer park (so dog on lead outside unless recall is perfect!) but tons of really amazing walks close by. I love it and stay/eat quite often.

Is there a list anywhere of dog friendly hotels that anyone can recommend as a go to? I’d love to stay somewhere that I could take the dog but I do like a hotel breakfast and dinner, I can’t be arsed self catering in a cottage again.

We're in Gloucestershire so wanted something within 2 hours drive ideally but I will look at these, thank you

The Fish Hotel or the Lygon Arms near Broadway, Worcs are both very luxurious and very dog friendly

Watching with interest. My mum is desperate to go to Beamish museum. I can’t leave the dog. Would love to bring her with us. But she isn’t keen on being left at all.

Tolcarne beach hotel in Newquay. They leave a little doggy pack in the room

Travelodges are all dog friendly, though you have to pay an extra £20 per stay for cleaning

@LizzieBennettDarcy and others - not only is this dog friendly - i.e. they will let them into the dining rooms and all public places , bedrooms ( they leave little blankets for dogs ) , they also will bring the dogs sausages at breakfast time if the dogs are allowed them Very lovely hotel - outside garden area for them to roam about in - not entirely enclosed so you might need to sit and have a drink whilst you watch them and near to Dartmoor etc. www.arundellarms.com/dog-friendly-holidays

Oh sorry - the dogs can't go into the main dining room but the bar dining area ( divided up into different areas) is very nice and where we ate - the main dining room looked more like a corporate type thing so no worry from us about not being able to take them in there. The dining areas they can go in has a very good menu

Is a pub/inn ok? We have stayed in lots and he eats with us - not as kid friendly if that's a need. Have also stayed at Hilton hotels that let dogs in one of the eating areas.

The Manners at Bakewell was our last trip, but have stayed in lots, mostly in Peak District. Dog friendly is quite easy we find

The Wild Boar at Crook, near Windermere.

Amazing place. Food is great, microbrewery on site, lovely rooms and some rooms are dog accommodating.

Getting you closer to Beamish The Worsley Arms at Hovingham, near Malton. Very dog friendly no dogs in dining room but same menu served in bar and food is very good.

We stayed at the Tufton Arms in Appleby and dogs were allowed in bar and lounge area (not dining room). They even set us up a breakfast table in the bar the next morning so she could eat with us. We were very impressed.

There is a park across the road and river/wood walk close by.

The Wheatsheaf in Northleach is fabulous and very dog friendly. In the heart of the Cotswolds so lots of opportunities for long walks and cosy pubs.
