Houdini Harness

Please help! I have a very active Lab. We went for a walk today and he has a “Walk Your Dogs With Love” harness which reduces pulling and is supposedly comfortable- who knows as none of us wear them.

He has had harnesses from this company for yonks. However- we were on a country road and I had to move him in to the side and he somehow managed to get out of his harness. He was ok thank goodness but it was extremely scary. He has never done anything like this before and somehow managed to get out of his harness. His back leg nearly went under the wheel of the car. Horrendous and stressful. Has anyone any recommendations for a harness that is escape-proof yet comfy?

I’m quite sure that someone will be along to tell me to train my dog. He has never done this before but it has frightened me and I can’t bear to think of him being at risk. Therefore for a start we need a different harness. Thank you.

Have you looked at the perfect fit harness. I can't think of any way my dog could get out of it.

Perfect Fit harnesses are excellent - well made, front and rear rings, many sizing options. I believe they can even be used with 3 legged dogs. My only criticism is that they take a while to dry.

Thank you both I haven’t even heard of this and I have googled like mad since we got home. He’s somehow got his back leg out of one and then yanked backwards. So thankful he’s ok it was sickeningly scary. Going to check those out now as we need one ASAP.

Perfect fit harness - the only harness that can contain bro's 3 legged Houdini terrier - she can escape anything else.

Also I think perfect fit must be comfortable as it's one of the few harnesses and collars my cavalier can wear without his soft fluffy fur being damaged.

Another vote for a perfect fit...

I love this - a MN thread where we all agree - Perfect fit is the way to go!

Never had a dog escape from a perfect fit harness yet, and have had many wriggly pups!

I use an Indi dog Houdini harness for my patterdale x , they are made to measure , come in a variety of patterns / colours and wash and wear really well .

I’ve ordered him a Perfect Fit using the measuring guide. Thank you all for your advice Grin. Can’t wait for it to arrive.

It's almost unnerving isn't itGrin

My dog escaped two harnesses, I've given up on them (returned to store) and just use collar - he's best off lead but on roads I'm careful as he could spot a fox...
