Puppy Poo question

I have a 14 week old miniature poodle.
He’s active, fun, seems happy and settled.
However for the last 3 or 4 days his poo has been soft. Not watery and still able to be picked up in a bag, but not as firm as they should be.

Is this something that’s pretty common in puppies? He wasn’t happy with his original puppy food so we have changed to a different one. I know it’s supposed to be a slow gradual process but basically he was refusing the first one so I had little chance. When I fed him them mixed he just ate the new one anyway and left the old one.

Also I’ve been trying to find motivating treats for when we are out and about. So he’s been trying different things but in very small amounts - bits of cheese, chicken, hot dog sausage (tiny bits) and other dog treats.

We were at the vets last week for his worming and flea drops and the nurse was happy that he looked healthy. But I didn’t mention the soft poo as he hadn’t started with that then.

Do I need to go back to the vets or is it just a puppy thing? Should I give it a few days and keep a close eye on him?

I really want to have a poodle - just love them :)

Re sloppy poos, it could be a change in food, it could also be that he is having just a bit too much kibble. Over feeding can easily cause the runs.

Stick to one kind of treat for a few days eg cooked chicken and see if it improves. Obviously if he appears ill rush to vets, eg tired listless not drinking.

Thank you Vall.

We got a poodle because I’m allergic to other dogs. He’s our first dog and after the usual puppy regret I now feel like we are starting to get into the swing of things.

He’s lovely. Loves all his people and is so clever (I think Blush) He already knows paw, flat and sit. He slept all night in his crate from the first night without any accidents. He is pretty good now with accidents in general, except he has refused to wee outside today in the bad weather. Can’t say I blame him!

He will only eat his kibble if it has a bit of water on. He downright refuses it if not! No matter how hungry he is. I thought it was too hard so got a softer one but he’s the same.

So he does have treats through he day. Mostly because I’m trying to keep on top of his training and it’s incredibly motivating for him!

I will cut down to one kind of treat tomorrow and see if him being limited with treats/rewards makes him appreciate his kibble more
