Frenchie limping slightly. Vets or wait and see?

Morning,
My frenchie seems to have devoloped a very slight limp and wont bear weight for long on his front leg.
He seems fine in himself, still running up and down the stairs and jumping on the sofa.
I've checked his leg and paws thoroughly and cant see anything that would be causing him a problem, his pads are slightly dry and he has a small crack in one so I applied some paw balm but it doesnt seem to have helped.
Does anyone have any advice before I make an appointment with the money grabbers vet?

I'll probably get flamed but I would wait. Have you checked the top of his leg (shoulder or thigh)

I've checked his shoulder, he doesnt seem to react to any prodding and poking. I was wondering if maybe it could be a slightly pulled muscle.
He went for a walk yesterday with no problems. My plan is to rest him today and if no better by tomorrow then make an appointment.

I'd wait in all honesty.

Once we took our dog to the vet limping, and a blister burst on her paw pad just before we got to the vet. Vet charged us a silly amount to see her, tell us it would heel, and clean it up

Sounds like my vet, they wont give advice over the phone they always say to bring him in which is why I havent rang already.
In all honesty he seems fine apart from the not bearing weight on it.

I would wait a couple of days too. All my pets have had limps at some point or other and they've always been fine within 48 hours. If he gets worse or shows other symptoms then I'd take him, though.

Hes currently fast asleep giving me the occasional dirty look if I dare to move and disturb him

I'd def wait and review in the morning, but I know I'd be able to get a same day appointment for tomorrow. and not have to wait it out over the weekend.

I would really have done the same as you have already done, check nails/claws too cos they can split and be sore. Will he let you wiggle each toe??

Maybe he slept funny and it's just sore?

He doesn't mind me wiggling his toes and his claws look fine, I think he wishes I'd bugger off and leave him alone tbh!
He does tend to sleep on his right side quite often so it could be something as simple as that I suppose :)

Can you film the limp? If he's anything like my brother's dog he'll miraculously stop limping when he gets to the vets, particularly if it's only a slight limp.

Funnily enough, he did recover enough to chase some pigeons in the garden earlier

No video but I'm just watching him mooching in the garden and he seems to be almost tiptoe'ing. Otoh, I now suspect either pad or between the toe kind of injury. I gave his paw a wipe earlier and popped some antiseptic spray on it, he retaliated by nipping me

Another update, possible claw injury.
Just washed his paws and one of his middle claws looks twisted. Could this be causing an issue?

be careful with antiseptics...some of them are not good for critters. I only ever use boiled water and salt

Do you think it's a new wonky toe/nail?
He hasn't got a splinter or something in the side of a pad....might account for the tiptoe-ing and it's only poking intermittently.

I'm really not sure, I've had a torch on it and cant see anything. Im sure the twisted claw is a new thing.
He's been for a walk again tonight and was absolutely fine, does seem to be very intermittent at the moment.
