Flaky skin

My poor dog had major spinal surgery last week and had to have the fur on his back shaved. He has beautiful thick fur so that’s been quite traumatic - not to mention the worry of him going through the operation... he’s started to perk up and is now behaving much more normally which is a relief. However I’ve just noticed that where his fur was shaved the skin is very dry and flaky. He usually has a beautifully shiny coat and I’ve never noticed any dandruff on him before so assume this is something to do with being shaved. Is there anything I can do to make it feel better? I don’t want him to start itching. He already has salmon oil on his food

It might not be from being shaved, mine gets a full coat and flaky skin after operations, it goes again after a while, I think it’s more from the physical stress tbh.

You could try all the usual skin stuff, coconut oil or vitamin e and they’ll not do any harm but it’ll probably go again as he gets better..
