Scooting, tail biting puppy

My puppy has been scooting his bum along the floor, biting his tail etc for over a week now. There was no signs of worms in his poo but we treated him anyway and days have passed to no avail. Just wondering if its worth ringing the vets or if it's just puppy behaviour?

Scooting is often nothing to do with worms but actually to do with anal glands. Especially as he is biting the base of his tail.

Dog groomers can empty them but personally I would get a vet appointment instead. My dog occasionally suffers from compacted glands and the vet just quickly empties them (warning anal gland secretions smell like rotten fish).
