I wondered how long it took your dog to accept a new puppy.

We got our puppy almost 2 weeks ago. Our dog will have the ocassional sniff and mostly ignore.

I know it’s still early day, but any tips on how to help the process or do I just leave it to my dog (she’s 7)

Thanks

Forgot to add that when puppy tried to play and jump on our dog, she clearly didn’t like it and told her so (snapping and telling her to back off)

Very normal. Some dogs love the new puppies but most don't. I have a lab that will ignore the puppy for a good few months and then you see a sneaky tail wag when the puppy comes into the room.

Don't rush it, don't worry about it - it is very normal.

Do let big dog have his own space - treat him when puppy is around so good things happen when puppy is in the room.

Don't let puppy hassle big dog or leave the big dog to sort it out - you need to make sure you are the one that distracts and removes puppy.

Thanks Valla. That’s good to hear.
