Dog’s Arch enemy.

Not the cats, not other dogs, the sodding broom. I am currently cleaning out the cupboard under the stairs. I have taken the precaution of locking all the brooms, mops etc into the kitchen. I have given strict instructions that, under no circumstances are they to come out and start attacking the dog.

One little bastard, the hand brush that I am using on cobwebs, has decided to be a hero. Currently it is being chased and harassed in the living room. Every so often it stops and pretends to be an inanimate object. The dog is not fooled though .

I have a brush lover/hater.

He also had rubbish recall when I first fostered him so I was the only idiot walking on the common with a brush and bending down to sweep the common ground - however he now has fantastic recall.

Had to laugh at the image of you sweeping the common Vallahala I thought I was getting funny looks when I suddenly start praising the dog and delivering treats for doing no apparent reason when walking down the street (I'm rewarding for not barking and lunging at his trigger) so I'm sure you must have had some very odd looks!

DDog has remembered this morning that the evil vacuum cleaner does exist. He's fine with it being pushed around, but the little hose attachment for fiddly bits must be fought. He's almost as enthusiastic with fighting the vacuum hose as with the hairdryer

Mine have a sixth sense when the vacuum cleaner monster is about to escape from the cupboard. They team up to support each other in taking it down, despite being terrified of it.
Brooms and the ironing board are next on the fear list, followed by plastic bags.
One was really proud of herself - she conquered a giant snake and brought it in to the lounge through the patio doors. Luckily I had finished watering and turned it off!

Oh yes, the broom, the dustpan and brush, and the mop are all Evil, and Must Be Destroyed.

Our ddog is terrified of the ironing board after it collapsed on her about 8 years ago.!!

She also loves to sit on the floor where I am mopping, I go round and round her, then have to toe her out of the way to finish.

I try to make sure the dog is upstairs if I'm removing the vacuum cleaner from its den in the under stairs cupboard.

No matter how quiet I am she still comes hurtling down the stairs barking and grumbling - one of the very few times she growls. She'll run up and down the stairs a couple of times and eventually take herself off to hide under the spare bed.

We have the same rigmarole every single time.

The cordless vacuum however, is clearly seen as no threat whatsoever as I can use that in front of her while she sit on the sofa without her turning a hair.

I thought being a trainer I can sort out my collies fear of the hoover - well I have but made life much harder for me

So every time the hoover came out so did the tennis ball - it has worked to a fashion. Now if I leave the collie in the room when I hoover I have to push the tennis ball out of the way with the hoover the dog cases it and then puts in back in front of the hoover Fun not!

It now takes twice as long to hoover as before but at least the collie is tired afterwards
