Spanish Water Dog - opinion pls

Hi all

We lost our lab 8 months ago. Initially we decided no more dogs but now 8 months on we really miss having a doggy around the place. We are an all adult family with 2 cats. I work 3 days a week (shifts)and my DH 5. We are very active, going on 5/6 hour walks, hill climbs etc on our days off. Plan is for DH to take pup to work if I am working.
We are drawn to the SWD and going to see some pups next week.

What are your opinion on this breed and what do you see as there strengths/weakness.

I don't know much about them but many water dogs can smell pretty strong due to the oils in their coats - might that be a problem if it is going to work ?

I have a friend with one and he seems friendly, surprisingly well behaved (according to other dog walkers) when a puppy and very very cute.
