Where does your dog sleep?

I've had my lovely chihuahua for 6 years he is usually well behaved.

We've just moved into our dream house and I don't want to ruin it with dog piss! He usually sleeps in our room in his bed but the past week he's been going in ds room and pissing in his play tent thing.

Would it be unfair to keep him downstairs from now on?

Pic attached of where he would sleep

Always in my bed until DP came along...he took umbridge to her sprawling across him every night. Was really easy to encourage her to sleep on the floor beside the bed and she was 9.

My folks have 2 spaniels who were allowed upstairs but similarly to you have moved into a new house; the carpets are all new upstairs so dogs are now not allowed (as they have open access to the garden). At 11 they have learned really quickly that even tho the stairs are accessible they are not allowed up. Nice cosy beds everywhere they are allowed downstairs & neither of them bother. If you make it a point from the start you should be okay but i'd suggest totally restricting being allowed upstairs rather than allowing it in the day but not at night

One sleeps between us every night. She has her spot between our pillows. She also has stairs up to the bed so she can get in. The babies sleep together on a bed next to ours. They come into our bed about 6am for a sleep. We wouldn't have it any other way. The kids are older now so the pups have taken their place.

Our puppy sleeps in her crate by our bed and at around 6am we let her onto our bed to go back to sleep. We are moving house next week and will be getting new carpets so we aren't sure what the sleeping arrangement will be!

Battendog sleeps on the floor in my bedroom. Unless no one else is home, then I leave the bedroom door open and he wanders about the place, sleeping where he likes.

We have a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs and DDog sleeps on a fluffy blanket in the conservatory. As a new puppy he slept in a crate upstairs but was stopped from going upstairs by the babygate as he was stealing toys from DDs bedroom. When we removed the crate we also started keeping him downstairs at night (he was about 5 months old then and housetrained). He used to get up and woof at 5am but is now peaceful until 6am and even then isn't distressed at all - he just wants me to get up and play!

In his bed at the top of the stairs. It’s a bit awkward but he just scratched the carpet there to bit before we put the bed there.

There is a baby gate beyond it so he can’t get in the bedrooms. It used to be at the bottom of the stairs but he just jumped over it!

Wherever he likes. He's a Jack Russell and he won Grin

Fergusmum · 17/08/2018 14:58

Our GR sleeps either in his own bed or with us.

In my sodding seat at the moment

At night he is in his crate so the cats can wander at will
