Poorly pup

BastardPup is not right. He was sick yesterday and we thought it was carsickness, but then he threw up before bed as well.

This morning he has had some food but is tired and just not his usual self. He also has vile farts.

DH is asking me if he has eaten anything and to be honest I don't know - I watch him constantly but he can pick stuff up in a second.

Argh. It's worse than having kids....

How old is he? Sounds like he could have eaten something, maybe in the garden when you weren't looking? They are devils for eating stuff they shouldn't.

Keep an eye on him and if you're worried phone your vet. Hope he's ok!

In this situation I have taken mine to the vets especially if he isn't his usual self. We have often needed antibiotics if it wasn't just part of his condition (inflammatory bowel disease).

On one occasion though my dog had eaten a bloody rag unbeknown to us and presented with vomiting then lethargy and pain. Although the vets couldn't feel it on the first exam and we had assured them he hadn't eaten anything when he didn't get any better they felt it in his intestine on the second exam so it is worth the vets having a feel of his stomach even if you aren't sure.

Could he have eaten a snail? My oldest is a horror for that and he vomits so much when that happens.

He does like a snail so that is a possibility. I suspect he may be un chien francais....

He perked up for a walk, had a small poo and is weeing ok. He's now having his morning kip. I suspect I will be pinned to the sofa for much of the day....

I would take him to the vets. It's just not worth the risk as obstructions can become fatal so quickly.

He seems to be getting better as the day goes on. He's had a play and a long nap. He ate his lunch and sulked when I wouldn't give him any of the fish and chips I bought for me and the kids (to help them get over the trauma of sharing the back seat with puking pup yesterday).

Am waiting for DH to come in and will see how he is then. If he is sick again then it is vets.

Just be aware they can mask pain very well so I think you are wise to see a vet if he vomits again.

On the morning my dog started vomiting we put it down to 'something he had eaten'. He then proceeded to run about like normal at daycare then vomited again at night. Next day he was having emergency surgery to remove the rag.
