My 19wo GSP pup is not interested I any of the view toys we have bought him.

I have tried:

Nylabones (various types)
Antlers
Stuffed Kong
Pigs Ears

He just isn't interested in the Nylabones or antlers. Kongs are fine but only lasts for a few minutes. Pigs ears stink and give him the runs.

I really need to find something that will keep his attention and interest him.

Thanks

Frozen marrow bones
Pig rind
Goat ears
and chew roots

Are popular with Badlypup but she has a cast iron stomach.

Have you tried frozen kongs?

DogInATent · 06/08/2018 23:35

Does he ignore/reject the antler, or has he tried it and left it? Wetting an antler seems to get the flavour going - just give it a rinse and don't dry it before giving it to him.

He's just not interested in the antler. I will try setting it.

Not tried frozen kings. Will give those a go.

What are chew roots?

A hunk of wood that they can chew.

Badlypup is currently chopping on a yakers chew. Having already demolished two cardboard boxes.

(Yes she is very spoilt in the chew department)

You should try the yak milk chews they are fantastic.

katmunchkin · 07/08/2018 10:30

My 15 week old GSP loves dried sausages and milk bones if you can get your hands on those? Although there's not much she doesn't like tbh!

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 07/08/2018 10:55

I tend towards things that are clearly identifiable bits of an animal - dried tripe, paddywhack, ears, trachea, pizzle sticks, fish skin, lambs tails etc etc

EastCoastDamsel · 07/08/2018 11:23

Wetting the antler has worked!

Yakers! My dogs love them but they are so flipping expensive. Fetch.com and Active Hound are cheapest I’ve seen.
XL ones are £15 in my local garden centre Shock

Wetting the antler has worked!

Oh ye of little faith!

adaline · 07/08/2018 14:38

You can buy Yakers on Amazon - two for £12 or so @WhatsYourFuckingProblem

WhatsYourFuckingProblem · 07/08/2018 15:22

Oh really? Never thought of looking on Amazon, thanks Adaline
