Seizure in Boston

Hi all, I've just had to rush my baby boy to the vets as he has had a fit out of the blue. He's had one before at the end of a walk and cool towels and a fan bought him round in just a few minutes. This time he was sleeping, got off the bed and had the fit. Cooled him and rushed him straight to the vets where he has been for a few hours now. His bloods have come back all normal, but they are struggling to stop him fitting.
I have to go back at 7pm, so am just sat here worrying and scared. Does anyone have any words of wisdom as regards to what might happen next?
I'm terrified that it will affect his brain and about what will happen when (if 😟) we get him home.

I'm sorry this hasn't happened to us. Your dog is in the best place and I'm sure they are doing everything they can. It's v worrying.

Did he go in any lakes/ rivers whilst you were on your walk as there is a lot of the blue algae stuff cropping up at the moment and that can cause fitting in some dogs . Hope you get some good news .

Thanks guys, no walks today @Floralnomad would that happen straight away or maybe a few days later? Would it show on his bloods?
We have moved house recently to a house with a garden right next to some woodland. He's always snuffling around out there playing with Fallen fruit and the like, bit nowhere for algae I don't think.

How is he now?

BertyFlanter · 06/08/2018 21:54

@Theworldisfullofgs he's home now! So relieved 😅
He has stopped fitting and seems to be his usual chirpy self, just with a bit of a wobble to his legs every now and then. I suppose after a day on diazepam we'd all be a bit wobbly!
The vet has sent us away with some emergency diazepam and some other medications which he will likely need forever more. But right now he's curled up on my knee and I'm the happiest dog owner in the world right now 😄

Yeah. So glad he's ok.
