I give in. A pale linen sofa and a springer do not live well together Grin

Therefore, I am about to buy a new sofa in a much darker and hardwearing fabric. However, I would still like to protect it from the worst that a winter spaniel can throw at it (or rub in it, or tread on it).

I had a look at the Orvis covers which look good but tres expensive.

Does anyone have them and are they worth it? Or does anyone use anything else they would recommend?

No idea as I have leather sofas but just wanted to say wow at the prices of the orvis covers Shock

I know! Unless they are super-duper (lights-are-gonna-blind-me) then I am tempted to just stock up on a few cheaper throws and accept that the lounge will look a bit untidy at all times (but will be clean underneath).

Ruff and tumble dog drying coats also sell sofa throws which look good!

We just use large throws , it is a bit untidy but they do the job .

The problem I find with some throws is that you want something that is light and very quick to dry after washing which some of them aren't.

They are extortionate!

Couldn't you just have leather or the modern leather look (totally different to its vile plasticity predecessor). Then a cheap throw in the wet weather?

I have a grey ikea sofa and use some grey blankets from ikea to cover the seats. When freshly on it looks smarter than other times but it looks fine and does the job

We just use cheap fleece blankets - they sell them for a few pounds at B&M or Dunelm and they wash and dry in a couple of hours. We have a few sets on rotate - two for the sofa, two for my car and two to use when one of the other sets is in the wash. We also use them to cover his crate or for him to snuggle with on the sofa or at night. He loves them and they're surprisingly hard-wearing!

Yes! I have the Orvis cover with the rubber backing for my beautiful leather chair, I also have a matching fleece. Both are brilliant. They wash really well and stay on. I would say they are worth the money.

Twice a year our local Orvis shop has a kind of outlet sale, but it’s pot luck what is there and it’s a bit of a bunfight.
