He's gorgeous. I do love a pointy hound Smile Hope the introductions go well.

I don't think I've ever replies on a dog thread but I have to say this without knowing any of the back story..

.. That dog is SMILING!!!

sexnotgender · 05/08/2018 19:28

Back story is failed racer who was badly treated in an attempt to make him run. He’s a beautiful dog and it breaks my heart that anyone could be mean to him.

What a lovely dog. Ex-racing dogs make lovely, gentle pets. They have a horribly cruel life when racing.

W0rriedMum · 05/08/2018 23:38

Well he knows he's heading to a good home, judging by the width of that smile!

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 06/08/2018 00:04

He's lovely! He does look happy.
I don't know the full story but ... strong prey drive breed and trained to chase a small fluffy target ... going to a home with cats? Umm I hope your cats will be ok? Hope so!

esk1mo · 06/08/2018 00:24

congrats Smile he looks so happy! i hope the cats arent too mean to him Grin

What a gorgeous hound, he's onto a happier life.

Here's one of our smiley boys.

Halfahunner - he has no prey drive, that’s why he’s a failed racer. He’s totally terrified of the cats.

Ah, lovely to know he is going to a safe and loving home! Star

I own boarding kennels and have a recently adopted ex racer in.
She is beautiful, gentle and loving but a nervous wreck. When she first came in, she wouldn't even look at us. If she was stopped sniffing on her walk and you shifted your feet, she'd jump a mile.
Makes you wonder what kind of life they have in training/racing Sad
She has been having weekends with us to get used to us for her summer holiday stay and it is lovely to see the change in her in the 6 months the family have had her.
We love seeing her grow in confidence.

I hope you have many happy years with your pointy hound.

@twoheaped Ahhh it's lovely she coming out of her shell. You'll have to make her summer holidays extra special.
