I found it very difficult to name my puppy 7 years ago and had to sort of try her name out for several days before I actually settled on it.

Apparently it's suggested that dog breeds who are perceived to be stereotyped like Staffs, Rotties and Dobes should be given "soft" names to encourage people, esp non dog savvy people to see beyond the stereotype and that these dogs are simply dogs.
