Scratching at harness loads

My dog has been wearing a harness for only 10 days so I realise she's probably still getting used to it. However she's stopping on walks (still on lead as working on recall) every few minutes to scratch. It's a Canada Pooch, not too tight. Is this just normal for dogs who have never worn harnesses before and/or is there anything which can help? It's pretty disruptive to walks.

It sounds like it's irritating her. Is it rubbing somewhere (legs / armpits would be a classic location), for instance?

To be honest it may just not fit her - in which case I would recommend a Perfect Fit harness, which is great quality and does what it says, even for funny shaped dogs.

My puppy has had three harnesses over three months and hated them all. He runs away when he sees me with his harness to go for a walk. He can’t go out on a collar and lead because he pulls back and it comes off over his head.
It seems to be quite common for dogs to dislike their harnesses, especially if they go on over their head. If you know it’s not uncomfortable she must just put up with it.

My dog's first two harnesses rubbed sore places on her. Try getting a fleece harness (a bit hot at the moment, though). We have one now and have no further problems.
