Hi guys,

I have a 1 years old Whippet that’s been lethargic and running highs temps / fevers for 2 months now in June. He was given a shot of steroids and probiotic’s stating he as has a viral infection and he was then fine until mid July however now he’s lethargic and feverish again, blood test show slightly raised white cell count but nothing else, abdomen scan clear. He is peeing more but vets won’t treat for infection yet and are testing for a autoimmune issues through more blood tests and have given him Metcam for the fevers stating this should help however unlike with the steroid he bounced straight back this time he’s around 70% right, has anyone had this issues with there Whippet??

Thanks in Advance

I have a whippet but no experience with this problem. It does sound very stressful for you all Sad

I’m a member of a number of whippet groups on Facebook and have seen a few posts about some ki d of immune issue that whippets can get. Maybe try posting there?

I've a whippet. Never up nor down and she's now 4 years old.
Sounds like a non breed specific illness.
I did have a small mongrel type that was slightly whippet ish about 20 years ago though that came down with similar symptoms at a young age.
Lethargic, temperature and eventually a stiff gait and racing heart beat.
Turned out it was an extreme form of lupus that was untreatable and her organs failed eventually.
Nor wishing to worry you but it could be a milder form of lupus
