My dog weed on dog boarders bed

Been on holiday, ddog (less then year old) stayed at a borders who has two other male dogs, mine is female.

Boarder been in contact with me throughout the holiday, some nice videos, some complaints about behaviour

My dog is completely clean at my house, but doesn't go upstairs, stair gate preventing. That was expressed in message form.

Anyway I've had reports that my dog has weed upstairs twice and has since also found another wee on her bed

I'm so embarrassed and worried about picking her up
Any advice?

Dog boarder should shut her bedroom door and not let potentially unsettled dogs on her bed. Her choice to risk it.

Honestly I would never use them again. Barring urgent medical issues that needed discussions I would expect them to discuss any problems when you got home rather than sending complaints whilst you are away.

I would approach it as 'She is never allowed upstairs as I mentioned and doesn't pee inside so maybe it was all too stressful for her' and then see what your boarder says.

My dog is crated at night so this would have happened in the daytime at some point

As an experiened (hopefully) dog border they should realise that allowing a new dog upstairs when they've been told she doesn't normally go upstairs is to do so 'at own risk'.

Don't be embarassed. A decent dog boarder should understand they took the risk, especially considering...

...suggests this dog that had already peed twice was left unsupervised on the bed.

I have clean dogs but very often they will pee in somewhere like a holiday home as other dogs have marked there before.

As a boarder I think you have to be prepared for a dog to be unsettled and for minor mishaps. This is a minor mishap and something I wouldn't expect to be 'told' about until you got back. Don't feel embarrassed and put it down to the boarder not being the right match for your dog.

Find someone else and board the dog for 2 nights before you go away so you know that she is happy with them and you are happy with the boarder.

I always ask my boarder how mine has been and any problems when I get back in case I need to address anything for future visits so I don't expect perfection from BiteyDog but I do think your boarder has unrealistic expectations here.

I'm picking her up in the morning hopefully will go ok

She should have just saved it all up and told me on collection really? If at all!

She is a bit of a madam but only 10months old so still obv got bits to learn

Maybe not quite the right fit, or better when she's older maybe!

Don't be embarrassed. You've done nothing wrong. She's your pet and you love her, but shes still an animal, a dog that you know and love but don't let upstairs in your own house. You warned the boarder she's not allowed upstairs. If I was the boarder I'd be embarrassed that I didn't follow your instructions/advice. Don't take any nonsense or offer to have anything cleaned. If your dog had broken her neck falling down the stairs that would have been the boarders fault. Thank her, pay her, and don't use her again. I'd also be furious about the comments about behaviour. You're on a break, you don't need to be worrying about things you can't fix and have no control over. That's not professional of her.

She’s an amateur. I’ve been a dog boarder for years and that’s why I have baby/dog gates EVERYWHERE. It’s completely unprofessional of her to send you criticisms of your wee pup, while you’re on holiday. If I have an issue with a dog, I wait until the owner comes home, before I give them a shit sandwich, as in, ‘your dog is very playful and really got on well with the other dogs. I would recommend having him neutered, because he, unfortunately has peed a few times in the house. This may be because he’s not used to sharing with other dogs, but I do find that dogs that aren’t neutered, do mark more. He’s such a sweet boy, shows no sign of aggression and does love his cuddles.’ That’s the short shit sandwich. 😁

I had a dog for three weeks, that I had to take to the vet, as he was limping. It was not a serious injury, so there was no need to worry the owner.
