Weirdo ddogs!!

Readyfortheschoolhols · 28/07/2018 20:45

Just been cleaning the kitchen with my ddogs all hanging about, weather debating thunder /lightning again and they want to be in!!
Went to the fridge and turned around to 7 brown eyes (and 1 blue) staring hopefully back!!
They wanted veg!!
No carrots, their favourite - so cut a long sweet potato into circles and shared them out!! Fussy one didn't fancy that so enjoyed some broccoli instead!!
What weird stuff cheers up you ddogs?

I think that you're not meant to feed them raw sweet potato - cooked is fine though.

My dogs like raw tomatoes. And they've been enjoying a frozen pea hunt on the lawn when it's been too hot to go out in the middle of the day (in the shad)

SilverHairedCat · 28/07/2018 20:52

Strawberries. Cucumber. Tomato.

She will also occasionally take a whole pear from the fruit bowl, remove the stem and proceed to eat it in a most ladylike manner, holding it down with her paws.

fleshmarketclose · 28/07/2018 20:53

Eric likes a cabbage leaf or a brussel sprout.

madvixen · 28/07/2018 20:56

My two love veg. They help themselves out of the (really raised) veg planter. They stole courgette tonight and wolfed it down.

Taking one of my socks off and putting it on my hand like a puppet. I make it say "hello Battendog" and he goes crazy for it. Loves it.

He now tries to get my socks off my feet so he can throw them back to me to wear on my hands.

I wouldn't mind but I paid good money for that little weirdo Grin

Coffee Hmm

Madam will do anything for a bit of coffee in the morning.

Tea isn't good enough for her.

You can't just ask for paw though. She will give you both paws, high five, beg and a dance to try and get that coffee

I allow her a little bit in the mornings. Not too much to worry about

MrsMozart · 28/07/2018 21:24

Socks are a Thing!

When I get home from work one likes to jump in my bed amd play Catch the Sock Grin She's very gentle with them, thankfully!

One of the Rotties has taken to trying to pull my socks off my feet. He too is, thankfully, surprisingly gentle and careful of my toes Grin

As for food, they'll all have anything they can get.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/07/2018 21:52

Never mind veg, mine likes a bit of compost

madvixen · 28/07/2018 21:56

ErrolTheDragon. It makes me happy to hear this. I thought it was just mine!

Small dog has taken a liking to a sofa caddy that I won in a Rottweiler Rescue auction. I don't think I'll be getting it back somehow

Dpup Bracken is looking threateningly enviously at your pompoms, mad! Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 29/07/2018 11:37

Our previous dog used to think the sandpit we had then was a snack tray if we left it uncovered. He used to shit bricks.Grin

MrsJayy · 29/07/2018 11:42

Jay dog loves rolling in wet towels andif it is wrapped round Dd2s hair that is the prize he loves smelling of aAussie shampoo Grin

He also sits patiently to lick round a yoghurt pot,

Squirrel26 · 29/07/2018 11:47

Oh yes, coffee! He has been known to smack my mug with his paw to spill it than happily lick my clothes/ the sofa.

I let him lick the empty mug when I’ve finished. (I know, eww. Sorry.)

TillyMint81 · 29/07/2018 11:50

Watermelon! Especially frozen when it's hot

madvixen · 29/07/2018 11:51

Oh the fun and games we had with those pom-poms. It's an attempt at a pompom rug but the boys think they're balls Smile

pigsDOfly · 29/07/2018 12:18

Watermelon and carrots, not together.

We often share watermelon after a walk, although the watermelon this year has been really tasteless and I haven't bought any recently.

Anyone know where to get good watermelon at the moment?

Allycumpooster · 29/07/2018 15:57

Mine wait patiently for the eggshells from boiled eggs, or raw ones if we fire or poach the eggs. They just love the eggshells. Makes their poo a bit crispy though

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/07/2018 16:47

Ours love the outer leaves Fromm Savoy cabbages - I hand them over stem first, and they go off to their beds with a grill of cabbage round their mouths!

Ddog2 also likes apples - I think she has picked all the ones she can’t reach, from my tree in the garden.

They both love most veg - sprouts, tomatoes, mushrooms, the trimmed ends from asparagus, and fruit too - app,es and pears especially.

Frankly ddog1 is a Labrador, so she will eat pretty much anything.

aryto · 29/07/2018 17:32

My boy forgets he likes cheese. A lot of times when he's given some he will spit it out but come back to eat it in his own time. He will then pester you for some more (and gulp it down). He is very fussy, refuses most dog treats and much prefers human food. I would die of a heart attack if I ever saw him eat fruit/veg.
