Not drinking wate

Hi, my dog is thirsty but not drinking!
I assume he’s thirsty because he’s been licking the cold, damp towel I’ve put down for him, he’ll drink water out of my hand and lick water if I pour it onto the towel but won’t drink out of the water bowl. I’m not overly concerned as I’m making sure he isn’t too hot and I’m making sure he gets water even if it’s not in the usual way but wondering if anyone knew why he would be acting like this?

Does he usually drink from the bowl? Mine prefers drinking out of anything else in preference to his bowl, no idea why. Much prefers drinking outside even if it's just tap water rather than a flavoursome ear de pond or muddy puddle.

Yes, he has a bowl upstairs and downstairs and he’s usually face first into them, no issues at all

From a quick google, it seems that some dogs do take against their bowls for no apparent reason.

I'm not a dog expert, but have you tried a completely different bowl-like container? Also, people can get confused by heatstroke and/or dehydration - is he otherwise behaving normally?

Behaviour is completely normal, eating fine, chatting away and playing normally, obviously the heat is bothering him and he’s panting more than usual but seems happy enough on wet towel in front of fan.
Will try another bowl when he wakes up

Run the outside tap or the bathroom tap, I bet he’ll drink from that.
