Lost my beautiful girl yesterday. Feels unreal it was really sudden and unexpected. Struggling to function can't bear to think of life without her.

What happened?

fivedogstofeed · 21/07/2018 08:51

That's a dreadful shock. So sorry Thanks

makingmyway10 · 21/07/2018 09:08

Thank you. Cancer that had gone undetected until she was really ill. Rushed her to vets and she died there. Still in shock I think.

We lost our dog the same way on Thursday.

I'm completely devastated so know how you feel. It's a lot to cope with and I just want him to be here.

He was old boy at 13.5 but still going strong. He just seemed poorly and a bit under the weather on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday started coughing a bit. Then suddenly by Thursday afternoon he couldn't breathe properly or stand up. Rushed him to the vet where they admitted him and sent us him while they did tests.
Called us half an hour later to say he had massive tumour on his lung that couldn't be treated so he'd need to be put down.
Before we could leave to take our children back to say goodbye, and before they could put him to sleep he passed away.

We're heartbroken as he was here and now he isn't. I can't get my head round it and my 3 daughter's are in bits.

I'm so sorry Flowers

You need to be kind to yourself and let yourself grieve.

@ Making and always
So sorry to hear such sad news , it's so hard to get past loosing a member of the family like that and they are just not there enough years
Try to remember them for all the lovely times you had together , the simple things in life that are so precious
ThanksThanks

makingmyway10 · 21/07/2018 20:11

Making - I'm already starting to feel a bit less 'raw' about it. It's so hard isn't it as it just hits you at odd times and you remember again that they're gone.

I'm worried about my husband though - he's very low and won't really talk about as he's been working from home for 2 days and hasn't seen anyone. I've had a chance to talk to friends and colleagues and feel that's helping me to process it better.

We've just got to hope that it keeps getting easier, and we need to remember the amazing joy that we bought to their lives and them to us.

That's good Always. I have to say I am really struggling. We lost her on Friday and I have spent the last two days in my room in the dark, and then watched tv all night. It just keep playing over and over in my head, I think I am in shock really. I am so raw. I managed to pick up her water bowls this morning and put them in the dishwasher and I know that later I will move her bed. Its heart breaking to see it empty. I keep hearing her paws behind me and putting my hand down and then I remember. I think talking with a friend might help, will try and meet up with my good friend soon. My children are teenagers and are devastated but obviously life goes on and I have made them keep to their plans over the weekend and today. Which has been the best thing for them. Just cant bring myself to face the world yet.

I'm so sorry OP, it's awful to lose a dog they truly are a member of the family. Make plans with friends or family and try to get out of the house that really helped me.

My heart breaks for all of you experiencing the loss of your special one. I know quotes can be cheesy, but I wholeheartedly believe this:

What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
