Red spots on dogs bum

Hoping for some advice. I’m currently dog sitting for a dog for a friend. Have looked after him a lot over the years.

The owners are currently out of the country.

Yesterday I noticed a red spot on the dogs bum, not noticeable until just after he had had a poo and seemed to disappear by the time we got home.

Same has happened today except there’s now 2 spots. He doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort, eating and drinking and toileting as normal.

Would it be gross for me to pop a picture up to gather opinion on whether vet trip necessary? Obviously I would contact owners first regardless but there’s a time difference and don’t want to disturb them unless necessary.

Not sure I will be able to help but post a picture and someone might recognise what it is.

Put a picture up

Are you seeing them at the point he poops? Are they the raised bits around the exits for the anal glands? If they are bilateral and at the 3 and 9 O'Clock position it will be those.

They’ve gone again! No sign of them at all. From memory one was at 3 o clock and the other at 6. Ish!

Will watch closely tomorrow and see if they return!
