Not wanting to wee in the rain

BastardPup wants this rain to stop. So do I. He won't go outside and wee in the rain - DH reckons it has been over an hour and a half since his last one. He can last all night but I am on hot bricks here watching him.

How the hell do you convince a dog to go out and wee when it is raining?

Toilet trained in winter and I just used to stay outside huddled under an umbrella until he finally went.

I have to insist they go out and then I don't let them back in until they have performed. They soon learn to wee quickly!

yes...get a big umbrella and learn where to stand to stay dry in all wind conditions.

having said that one of our GSDs was not keen on the rain and would either back out and actually pee on the door step, or if actually made to go out he would hold it in until the last minute and wait till his front feet were in the porch and, yes, you guessed, pee on the doorstep.

I take him out and he's not allowed back in until he's been.

Wolfiefan · 20/07/2018 22:31

Lead on.
Stay out.
Mine hates rain.

Argh! Tonight he went out, weed, then came back in and weed in his sodding crate five minutes later. DH is stressed to death and I am worried sick about tomorrow which looks like a crap day.

Is the pup too young to learn a command word for weeing? Our springer will now go almost immediately on command which helps when the weather is bad. I realise this wont help with the immediate issue (but am very envious of you having rain - we havent had any for months here!)
