Greyhound yelping as she stands up.

My greyhound (about 7 yrs old) has started in the last 24 hours yelping when she stands up, and also the odd time in the middle of a snooze. I think perhaps one of her back legs is the source as it's looked a bit stiff as she begins walking.

Should I be concerned and have her checked out? First time I thought she'd just got up too suddenly. I'm wondering if she's just pulled a muscle and it will ease in a few days, or if I should get her checked over before then?

She's usually fit as a fiddle and I'm lucky she's never injured herself before (she's lazy even by greyhound standards lol).

Probably coincidence but will mention it anyway, she's also in the last fortnight started digging in one of my flowerbeds, and weeing in unusual places in our garden eg on the paving when she usually is all for the lawn. (Probably completely unrelated but also new, out of character things).

Well you know your dog but if it were my dog I'd be checking her out with the vet.

Yelping in her sleep sounds like she's being woken by pain, which is a whole other level than just being a bit stiff when getting up from a lying position.

Yelping in pain with no obvious cause (eg having been trodden on) on a few occasions would always have me take the dog to the vet.

Try and get the dog in today - otherwise sods law dictates that DDog will get worse over the weekend and need to be seen as an emergency with extra fees to pay.

Thanks I will give vets a call. Glad I asked. As she's
usually healthy and spritely its not something I've had to weigh up before.
