Pup is fabulous but the cats now hate me...

So, BastardPup is settling in nicely. But the cats hate me. They won't come in - they do spend a lot of time outside at this time of year, but I have barely seen them since Friday.

They are more than a match for him, but they won't get close enough to find out.

Anyone had this and is there anything we can do?

We are "settling in" rescue dog and cat. Our cat also spends lots of time outside anyway but when he gives back we give him chicken to encourage him. We have a stair gate and so he is learning that he can go up there and sleep all day away from the dog. I think it's a slow process sometimes...🙄

I had this. I think it is just time, and making sure you have some ‘cat only’ time for cuddles if they like that.

You could also try giving them treats when the dog is near (ish) so they associate it with good things.

Our cat now tolerates the dog but will still hiss at her if she comes too close. She did try to investigate the crate yesterday though.

We are 7 weeks in, although dog is 5 (cat is 9/10). It helps the dog doesn’t chase the cat.
