Petitions of this type seem to pop up from time to time TropicPlunder and I've signed things in the past I don't know of anything that's running at the moment - although I'm sure there are one or two - or if the petitions I've signed have achieved anything. Perhaps try googling it.
Theresa May was trying to do something about bringing in a law that would require a buyer to be shown puppies with the mother present; like that's going to make any difference.
The puppy farmers will just go on doing what they do already and just bring in any female and say it's the mother; they'll take a risk that they'll be found out and prosecuted as any penalties are nothing compared to the money they can make.
If I remember correctly the sentences handed out to the people who were involved the Manchester puppy farm in the CH5 programme were a joke
It's the same when people are convicted of animal cruelty and they're banned from keeping animals for a few years. How is that enforceable? It's pointless, sentences need to be harsher.
There have been a number of campaigns by various organisations over the years to get puppy farms banned, many still running as far as I know, but they never seem to get anywhere. There just doesn't seem to be the will by the government to do anything about puppy farms.
I think the law Theresa May was trying to bring in might have been the result of a petition. I'm afraid petitions don't seem to do a great deal to improve the lot of the poor animal stuck in these places.
