fox poo!

Posting to try and put my mind at rest - how worried should I be about a face full of fox poo? Dog rolled in it earlier, and while I was trying to clean him he shook himself and covered me in a fine spray. It went everywhere, face, hair and even some splashes in my mouth. Worried about pathogens.... Am I going to get horribly sick or riddled with worms?

There's a slight risk of toxocara infection (see link)... buy not much you can do other than be aware of symptoms and seek help asap if you experience any. I'd say it's possible but unlikely. Dogs are so gross!!

Get yourself checked out if you are worried. Foxes also carry mange.

Btw tomato puree (the concentrated kind) is good at getting rid of the smell. Rub it into the fur and onto the skin in the area you want and leave it on for 30mins if you can. Spray off in the shower or outside with a bucket of warm water and fairy liquid. Cleans off the dog too Grin

Oh golly, that's not nice. Personally I'd say better safe than sorry and pop to your GP. At worst you waste a bit of time but save yourself a lot of worry, right?

As someone with toxocara sight loss I'd say get it checked.

Thanks - I'll try and get to the GP tomorrow.

Dogs are indeed gross.

Good luck OP! Let us know what they say. I'm sure you'll be fine but better to be safe than sorry.
