Rawhide alternatives

Just wondering if anyone can advise me of alternatives of rawhides?

Our golden retriever loves then but I always worry about choking and digestion.

Thanks in advance

Yakers are good, Fetch.com has them the cheapest I’ve seen.

Roots are very popular with my dogs and last months.

I also like Salmon Skin Chews from Pet Munchies, I get those from Active Hound.
Not long lasting like rawhide though but satisfies their need to chew something.

We buy Antlers and they seem to work well :)

I use a variety of dried meat type chews - particularly pizzle sticks, trachea, tripe and so on.

I'm not sure if it's as long lasting as rawhide (never given it to current dog) but he certainly enjoys them and I don't have to worry about safety

Our vet told us not to give our dog rawhide as it's very fattening. She's a lab so we need to control her weight

Also rawhide is bleached with chemicals. I would not give that to my dogs.
Have you tried raw rib bones?
As with any bones, you need to supervise them.

My lab and GSD are expert chewers and get through most things in a few minutes.
Raw duck necks (from Pets at Home) seem to last longest, especially if fed while still frozen.

look up natural treats on any pet website, dried cows ears, pigs ears, pizzles, tripe, raw bones, are all much safer from toxic chemicals.

My two love these www.dfordog.co.uk/nylon-marrow-bone-dog-chew.html They last ages. I wasn't sure whether to bother trying them at first as my dogs have never been bothered with nylabones type things but these have jerky flavoured stuff inside and it gets them very interested indeed.

mine love pizzle, trachea, goose necks and salmon skin chews, necks and trachea last the longest. I find independent pet shops have a bigger and different variety of dog treats Smile
