DDog smells pretty bad, very very doggy. Just wondering how often does everyone bath their ddogs?

Eric gets a bath at the groomers every six weeks and occasional baths at home in between when he has rolled in something disgusting.

QueenOfMyWorld · 21/06/2018 16:26

Every 6 weeks or so

Ronnie gets a bath about once a year, and spot cleans as he needs it. He’s brushed every other day which seems to help keep him tidy. It’s a good thing as he HATES bath time.

Mine has only been bathed three or four times in six years. He smells lovely - like a puppy. We feed him a high quality food and he doesn't like to get dirty though.

Except for that time he decided to roll in a cow pat...

Springer who goes in the river, canal or reservoir most days and goes in the shower after if its been a canal swim or river swim, just warm water though rarely use dog shampoo. weekly ear clean and regular brushing. She doesn't smell, has nice breath and is raw fed.

ScreamingValenta · 21/06/2018 21:44

Every 1 - 2 months, depending on how smelly he gets.

Bath and clipping at the groomers every 6 to 8 weeks. Warm water rinse after muddy walk. Brushing and combing nightly in winter, brushing and light combing every two or three days in summer. Fed on Gentle cold pressed kibble with small amount of natures menu wet food to taste. Treats are small bits of cooked turkey, liver or chicken, raw marrowbone and the occasional dried fish stick etc. Also loves to munch on raw cabbage.

Should also say, she only smells if she has rolled in Fox poo or is overdue for a clipping.

Whenever they stink. Usually about once a month but being Labradors, they seem to have built in homing beacons for anything disgusting in a mile radius. Unless they find something particularly delightful, though, they don't tend to smell at all.

HollyGibney · 21/06/2018 23:10

Once a month but if he's particularly grubby it can be once a fortnight. I shampoo him with coconut dog shampoo and then when dry finish off with a generous spritz of coconut and lime coat spray. He smells amazing for about three days.

Once a month, my boy seeks out muddy puddles on most walks. We use shampoo for sensitive skin and we have no issues.

Cath2907 · 22/06/2018 09:41

I have a Bichon Frise - white and furry. He LOVES to get muddy, roll in poo of all types, lie in the river then roll in the dust. He is never ever white (normally beige) but gets his feet and undercarriage rinsed with water most days after his walk. He gets soap when he has rolled in a poo - so about once a fortnight. I tend to only soap the affected area and researched a mild dog shampoo to hopefully reduce the risk of irritation. I rinse thoroughly. He gets brushed daily which takes some of it off. Next time I am getting a brown dog - they don't show the dirt so bad!

Tinkobell · 22/06/2018 13:43

Mine gets proper wet through nearly every day (Cockapoo loves the hosepipe) and I add baby shampoo to the soaking about once a week. She eats Barking Heads and isn't smelly at all.

zizza · 25/06/2018 00:23

I show my spaniels so they get bathed pretty regularly (my older one's a retriever and no longer shown - I find he still needs a bath everyone so often!!). With a decent shampoo and conditioner (any I rarely shampoo over their backs - I just condition there) they have no problems with their skin and their coats are beautiful.

They also like looking like this....

Border Collie D.dog has to suffer the indignity of having a bath only four or five times a year. This happens after he's gleefully rolled in something dead in our paddock, been swimming in a particularly swampy smelling lake or creek, or just before we have to travel in close proximity with him in the car so we can visit family three hours drive away.

Border Collie D.dog Does.Not.Enjoy.Baths and will cringe even if he sees me wearing rubber gloves for washing up. He's finally realised that resistance is futile and endures his fate with the countenance of a prisoner resigned to their execution.

After the enduring brutal torture of being gently washed with warm water and oatmeal doggo shampoo in our bath (!) and then towelled down afterwards, he runs around with the exuberance of a slave finally freed!

All in all, a traumatic event for dog and owner alike!

Whenever I can’t stand the stench any longer Grin every 2-3 months on average. Stinky old staffy.

adaline · 25/06/2018 08:53

Our beagle gets a bath once a month. He tolerates it fine even though he hates water on his walks!

He's white and tan and gets grubby easily. We use puppy shampoo as he's only small and he smells lovely and ends up all soft afterwards!
