Peanut butter

I have read on here that peanut butter is a good kong filler. Is this normal, human peanut butter? Or is it a special dog peanut butter? If it’s one for dogs, where do I get it? I looked in pets at home today but couldn’t see it.

Also any suggestions for other irresistible kong fillers? Pup is not very food orientated so it needs to be extra tasty for her to even try!

You can get “dog” peanut butter in Pets At Home, however I use the Meridan no salt & no sugar “human” ones. Just make sure the brand you choose does not have any artificial sweeteners.

Don’t go filling the whole Kong up with peanut butter Smile I used to fill mostly with mashed banana & natural yoghurt, with just about a level teaspoon of PB smeared just inside the opening.

Thanks. I obviously missed it in my search round pets at home earlier. I will try again!

I will try the banana and yoghurt with a small bit of peanut butter to.

Peanut butter is good for sealing the hole! You can put some dry rattly treats, then a blob of pnut butter on top and put in fridge to set. It plugs the goodies in nicely

I use the same one as Eifla - buy it in Waitrose or Holland and Barrett. I mash a little bit in with banana and then stuff and freeze. I also use fish4dogs salmon mousse. That's my dogs current favourite Kong filling. Always freeze them so they last longer.

We use the Meridan or Whole Earth peanut butter for the dog, she would give up her remaining eye for peanut butter!

I put kibble inside, then seal the ends with peanut butter and refrigerate - keeps him occupied for a while!

Any peanut butter will do - PestDog gets the cheap stuff - but ensure it doesn't contain Xylitol, which is poisonous to dogs.

My go to filling for Kongs is Butternut Box, which is basically very good quality wet food.

If it's not Butternut Box, it's a mixture of whatever I can pull from the fridge that needs eating up - sour cream, blueberries, peanut butter, raw egg, bit of kibble, microwaved fish fillet. If it can be mashed, it can go in, within limits.

Any human one, just avoid artificial sweeteners (particularly xylitol).

Also keep in mind it's very calorific to dogs, so don't over do it.
