Puppy sling/bag recommendations

We’re bringing our new smooth collie puppy home next month and will need to carry her around for a bit, partly because she won’t be able to keep up with our older dog on walks for quite a while. There’s a huge price variation online so we were wondering if anyone had any recommendations and also any brands to avoid. Thanks

I used this one for my large-type springer. It did the job very well for the 2-3 weeks I needed to carry him for but wouldn't have held him securely any longer. I didn't want to carry him any longer so it was fine by me.

I did not pay £55 for it! I paid about £18.

Thanks missb - £55 would be a bit steep!! Any other recommendations?

I had the same plans for Elfpup. I routinely walk 8-10 miles a day at the weekend over some difficult terrain and a sling seemed the ideal solution so he could come too.

He hated it. Although he was clipped in he kept struggling to get out. I used it twice to walk the 1/4 mile t the village and it was a nightmare.

To be honest I'd make one from a shawl first and see if the new pup takes to being carried around. If he does then buy one but to be honest puppies get heavy very fast!

we bought one - puppy didn't approve. He just wanted OUT. It only got used 2 or 3 times.

The £55 is just a dodgy amazon market seller price. They have other very similar ones all over Amazon for the price I paid. Honestly, it's not worth spending too much on it because they use them for such a little amount of time.

I carry pups in a sling made from a scarf - I keep meaning to buy a ring sling which is easier to adjust though.

I sort of wish I’d kept one of my baby slings ... I decluttered them years ago - mind you, my youngest is 15!

You can get slings for dogs?!?! I don’t know if that is insane or genius!

noitsnotteatimeyet · 10/05/2018 13:20

Genius for when they’re puppies and you need to take them out and about but can’t put them down - insane for adult dogs unless they’re ill or injured!
