My dog just peed on the couch.

He is 13, I've had him for 3 years, a rescue dog. He was laid on couch then stood up, vomited and peed on the couch. He jumped off to go the room and seemed to be struggling to keep his balance, walking sideways as such. I let him out the back door and he squatted to pee. He never squats. Eating grass. He has never peed in the house before either. I'm going to make an appointment at the vets but what could have caused this? Any ideas?

Hey how did you get on at the vets?

Appletreecorner · 10/05/2018 18:30

Poor dog is obviously not well. What did vet say?

CollyWombles · 10/05/2018 19:46

The vet thinks it was a mini seizure or mini stroke. As my dog has gone back to his usual self, he believes it's my dogs age and doesn't think investigation is needed unless it reoccurs. It gave me a terrible fright though, gave me an idea of how hard I will take it when he does go. He is fine today bless him.

I hate to worry you, but when our dear dog started pissing in inappropriate places it was the start of bladder cancer. She lasted, quite happily, for three more years though.

My darling has gone now, but she'll never be forgotten.
Our new (to us), rescue dog (same breed, staffy) fills a hole in our lives and is much, much loved. New baby had big boots to fill, but fill them she has.

Just cherish your dog, and keep an eye on her. Maybe it's nothing more than a urine infection.

Best wishes

I always keep an eye on him, he is my own personal stalker! I knew taking on an aging rescue dog would be tough but it's like time has flown by. We had such a tough start, he did not like my children, it took ten months of hard work to crack that and I came close to returning him to the rescue a good few times as I was so worried he would bite one of the children. I had to train him to walk past other dogs without trying to murder them, got him to the point he barks but no more. He's been with me whilst going through an awful court case with the kids father.

I suppose I thought it would be a while yet before age related health problems would begin.
