So tired and a bit fed up

Sorry on here for a moan. Poor 10 week old puppy developed explosive diarrhoea at the weekend and had an emergency visit to the vet. He was fine got Kolin by this morning the poor thing is still pooping water no improvement what so ever but the bloody monster is fine! Nothing else wrong. I am also tired, tired getting up, cleaning poop etc. Now I know that's normal and I don't grudge him at all and I love him so much in only 2 weeks but I have been counting down the days until we can go out. Injections tomorrow highlighted on calendar and the vet won't give them unless he has solid poop Angry again not the vets fault or the dogs fault but we need out the dog needs to socialise with dogs and we are all going crazy. We have a thing at the weekend which we all have to attend and now the dog might not be able to 😭. Sorry I know you can't help but I just needed to vent and I just want injections and I just want my poor dog to be ok. We need to start doing things as a family again I just can't miss the thing at the weekend it's not fair on DC. Aghhh

geekone, I feel for you, I really do. The thing is, though, that's puppies for you. Even after his jabs he won't be able to go out for very long - puppies get VERY tired VERY quickly, especially in exciting situations like being out and about. Expect him to need to go back to sleep after just 45mins or so of being out.

The kinds of places you go might allow for that (e.g. a garden centre where you can walk about for a bit then sit down for lunch/coffee for a while so the dog can sleep on your lap or similar) but if you were planning to go out into crowds, walking about for a couple of hours, the dog is very unlikely to be able to cope with that.

The good news is that he CAN go out before jabs (obs as long as his stomach is ok) - he just cannot go on the floor where other dogs are likely to have been. I carried mine around in a sling for the first couple of weeks which had the added bonus of allowing him to snooze on the move.

Thank you missb oh I know he's actually ok in himself. He would have just been sitting on my knee asleep most of the day it's just incase other dogs were around. He will pretty much sleep anywhere and he has been to football before and is ok with crowds and people which is great and he gets mummy cuddles the whole time so he feels safe. Yes a sling would be grand except he's a giant Schnauzer so already bigger than a lot of other adult dogs lol. I love him I am just surprised how down the whole thing gets. And I was prepared I knew it would be hard and I have a lot of patience but I don't think anything can prepare you for your first dog Smile.

They have such sensitive tummies at that age plus you haven't had them long enough to know which foods to avoid. Puppy blues is perfectly normal and a lot of us on here have had them. Hope your puppy gets better soon so he can have his jabs.

Meh poop all over the bloody crate and dog at 6 in the morning and the he wee's on the floor 😢 While I am cleaning even though I put him out for a wee. Apparently he didn't want to pee in the rain.

Poor you OP, looking after even a healthy puppy is tiring.
Are you aware that even if he was well enough for his vaccine tomorrow he still has to stay in/away from other dogs for another 1-2 weeks?? You need to allow his body time to respond to the second vaccine unfortunately.

geekone · 02/05/2018 09:26

Hi yes we spoke to the vet about that and they were ok with Sunday being out if he had, had his injections, but to be careful. It's just a week with the vaccination he is getting thankfully.

Poop isn't pleasant at 6am Grin
