So, all being well, DPup will be ours in July.

We are all very excited, but it is a long time since I had a dog and even longer since I had a pup (10 and 24 years respectively!). DSs are 11 and 9 so no experience with dog owning, although they are used to dogs at the childminders and with friends.

Are there any books about surviving puppyhood? Ideally want one for me and something for the kids, too.

I promise I will repay any recommendations with pictures once the boy is here 🐶

Patricia McConnell. The Other End of the Leash was invaluable to us! How exciting for you!

TOEOTL is great.

As is The happy Puppy handbook by Pippa Mattinson.

Not quite what you asked for, but I would also highly recommend signing him up for well run puppy classes and ongoing training classes as soon as he's vaccinated - I found them very useful

Thanks

Yes, we are planning training classes. Previous pup was a dream to train but then we had beagles after that and they were a bleeding nightmare!

This book changed the way I understand my dogs

@Fitty thanks - that book looks really interesting and I've just ordered a copy

@Avo it is short and sweet. Suddenly I started to understand all the little signs that all dogs give. Best book about dogs that I have read so far.
