Best dog walking wellies

So for my birthday rather than perfume/jewellery etc which is lovely but I don’t use often, I decided I would like something that would genuinely improved my quality of life.... a decent pair of dog walking wellies. I have a pair of hunters which I picked up as a bargain at TKMAX. But they are too tight and uncomfortable over jeans round the calf and very difficult to get off...
so DH is buying them so money no object and i’d Obv like them to last a decent time.

I walk dog at least twice per day and where we walk wellies are usual apart from height of summer. I may need to walk 3-4 miles in them ideally (if poss)
I’ve heard mixed reviews about muck boots so would be interested to hear more...
Any suggestions please?
Thanks

I treated myself to some le chameau ones and find them very comfortable to walk in.

Hairymary90 · 04/04/2018 20:00

I really love my muckboots. I've got the derwent 2 style and find them very comfortable, I do about 2 hours a day in them. Only downside is they can get a bit too warm in the summer but I just tend to fold them down to make them into ankle height boots. I'd defo get them again. Pretty cheap too.

watching with interest....

I have aigle parcours, they are pretty comfortable but they are not built for fat calves so bear that in mind if you don't have slim legs.
I am rather large and although they have a panel that stretches so they do fit comfortably the buckles don't do up on mine which doesn't look too stylish..

ScattyCharly · 04/04/2018 20:40

I have some Aigles that have an adjustable calf

Floralnomad · 04/04/2018 20:44

I have Aigles which are really comfortable but I also have Dublin country boots which I love and are very lightweight . Both pairs have lasted well .

I was looking for a pair myself a couple of weeks ago, tried these on - www.hunterboots.com/gb/en_gb/womens-boots/womens-original-chelsea-boots/black/4481 very comfortable

Knowivedonewrong · 04/04/2018 21:26

I've got a pair of Shires country boots. They do large calf sized. About £100. Had mine since August last year, two dog walks a day in them and they're great.

However they were a bugger to break in. Had blisters on my heels for a couple of weeks, but they are worth it.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 04/04/2018 21:29

Just treated myself to some Le Chameau wellies. So soft and comfy!

Bubble2bubble · 04/04/2018 21:29

Aigle Parcours. Roomy enough to tuck in jeans, long walking socks and frankly quite chunky calves.
Soo comfy, I have had mine two years and wear them every day.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 04/04/2018 22:42

There was a thread on this topic in chat a few days ago and the most mentioned brands were Le Chameau and Aigle

I, too, am in the market for a new pair of wellies after I looked down at my feet earlier today and discovered no less than 3 splits in my wellies Angry

babyblackbird · 04/04/2018 23:16

Le chameau without hesitation, so comfortable I wear them 365 days if possible. I have the neoprene lined ones which are really warm for autumn winter etc and when in high summer ( ha !) I have to swap to something lighter like trainers I really miss them because they are so comfy. I am regularly the only one still wearing my wellies in the summer because they are so comfortable.

If money really is no object then I wouldn’t hesitate in buying Dubarrys. I’ve got a pair and they are the best boots I’ve ever had by a long shot. Not only are they durable and waterproof but they’re light as a feather and oh my god, are they comfy. They’re so soft and supple it’s like being out in your slippers. I wouldn’t go back to clumpy, heavy stiff old wellies if you paid me.

MonkeyPoke · 05/04/2018 00:25

Le Chameau if you want wellies but I prefer leather boots, Dubarry or Ariat.

wufti · 05/04/2018 09:37

love my muck boots. you need to try on different styles as the fit varies between them. fit my chunkier calves!

some wellies I can't even get on (hunters)

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 06/04/2018 13:30

I've discovered that Aigle do children's wellies all the way up to a size 5 and only charge about £30 for them.

Does anyone know if they are as good as adult versions that seem to come in at about £100?

RedPanda25 · 06/04/2018 13:33

Aigles parcours for wellies but I prefer boots too, I've got ariat boots and I love them, so comfy!

Lamememe · 06/04/2018 14:22

Le Chameau

Lamememe · 06/04/2018 14:27

Which Dubarry model would people recommend?

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 06/04/2018 21:45

I’ve got the Galway extra fit as I’ve got chunky calves and wide feet and they’re a beautiful fit.

plominoagain · 07/04/2018 12:09

I had the Galways which I lived in for about 8 years , as spent hours a day in them dog walking and doing the horses . They finally fell apart in their ninth year , but they were absolutely battered . Before I had them , I was going through a pair of Hunters every 6 months . Have currently got some Taurus Holkham boots which are almost identical to the Dubarry’s , but cost about £150 instead of £300 .

Fireinthegrate · 07/04/2018 20:26

Another vote here for neoprene lined le chemeau.
I have had Hunters, Joules etc, but le chemeau are far superior and so comfy and warm
I much prefer them to my Dubarrys which I hardly ever wear now.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 07/04/2018 21:00

I’ve got a pair of neoprene lined wellies which are lovely and warm but compared to the leather boots they’re heavy and stiff.

twinone · 07/04/2018 21:07

I had Le Chameau, they lasted me years and now I have Aigle Parcours.
I would say they are similar quality bit only time will tell if the Aigles outdo the 15 years of Le Chameau.

JustBeingJobless · 07/04/2018 21:58

I got done muckboots in the sale and I absolutely love them. They’re far comfier than the Hunters wellies I had before and totally waterproof.
