Rescue pedigree Westie pup

I have found a young pure breed rescue pup in a local rescue, and am excited and cautious in equal measure. I don't know where the pup came from (yet) but am worried that without a full family history she might come with health problems. I might be lucky and she might have full pedigree and come from a reputable breeder, but I worry she might come from a puppy farm and come with hereditary diseases. Rescue have lots of ex breeder dogs, which is why I am a bit worried. I'll speak to the rescue in the am, but do you think a pedigree from a rescue is worth the risk? I wonder if I would be better to get a rescue mongrel pup who might be naturally robust. Opinions please...

You need to talk to the rescue - the rescue I foster with does get puppies who are handed over when a family realise they can't cope with a puppy. Of course it does mean that their breeder isn't great as otherwise pup would go back, but doesn't mean there is anything intrinsically wrong
