Dog or bitch?

So we're on the list for several working cocker litters (yes, i do know how high energy wcs are, have done a lot of research!), one lot has already been born but only a dog is available. Dh, for purely emotional reasons, is keener on a bitch. Does it actually make a big difference? We would have the puppy neutered/spayed. Thank you

I would have a bitch. I’ve had dogs so I know what both are like. My reasons include, it drives me up the wall when a dog wants to keep stopping on a walk to sniff and cock their leg, bitches tend to be more loyal, a dog may want to wander and some dogs hump.

These are purely my own observations and I know not all dogs are the same.

TMI and a bit poo-trolly of me, but did anyone notice a difference in bowel movements too? Both bitches I knew had very easy-to-deal-with, solid ones, whereas the two dogs... Less said the better.

This is very interesting.

My Border T dog is definitely loving and confident but quite needy and can be a bit stupid Grin.
He has BT bitch friends who are more fiesty and dominant than him but he adores them and plays well with them but they definitely have the upper hand!

His best friend is a show cocker spaniel bitch however who is very submissive and he takes charge there.

I find it interesting to read different personalities.

Bitch for me. Have a dog this time as an all boy litter.
He is 8 and although neutered will still cock his leg to mark. Not in our house but anybody else's house is fair game, or if he comes out with us.
My bitches were never so rude.
I cannot compare personalities as different breeds.
I will only ever have a bitch from here on in.

Bizarrely, I had always had geldings over mares. I have had a mare for 10 years now and although I won't be having another horse, there is something about her personality that sets her apart from the 3 geldings I have owned previously.

I've only ever had bitches. Latest is now 3 years old and I remember the breeder looking rather offended and getting a bit preachy when I said I wanted the bitch instead of the dog.

Ive watched a few males and they're just very different to me.
Difficult to explain, but I just feel more of a connection to the females.
