Which are the Cheapest and best please?

I get mine from TKmaxx or homesense the Earthrated brand. Biodegradable, price is pretty reasonable, usually about £7.99 for 300 I think?

@babyblackbird which thickness do you buy please?

I bought some biodegradable ones in Pets At Home yesterday- £1.50 for 200.

@Adarajames i just buy the ordinary green ones rather than the black premium and they are still very thick.

I'm a volunteer for a charity that walks dogs. I didn't expect to have to provide anything so keeping costs down as I'm not working is a consideration for me.

I didn't know biodegradable bags existed until I started this thread.

I will definitely be buying bio degradable bags.

Are the tk maxx ones nappy bags or dog poo bags?

Got the pets at home biogradable ones, bought the poo bags when we got pupoy in Nov and still.plenty left. Really wouldn't consider using non biodegradable ones.

Am pretty eco with everything else, not sure why this has always passed me by, will buy eco ones now and no more plastic ones in future!

I always buy biodegradable bags (online). Trouble is, I have recently noticed they are packaged in what definitely looks like a NON-biodegradable bag - I am thinking of complaining (if they put it in reinforced paper envelope (2 or 3 thicknesses like padded envelopes) it would be biodegradable too. I really hate those scented poo bags you can get - they smell nearly as bad as the poo.

Biodegradable all the way. Think of the millions of non biodegradable bags sitting in landfills with their contents still in them years after the poo was picked up.

Just want to reiterate this^. The difference in cost is pennies. You can literally get 100 for £1, if you can't afford that you can't afford a dog surely?

our local petstore has bags, no mention of being biodegradable. However by the time the council collect from the bins i wonder about the suitability of such bags eew

Interesting - my understanding always was that biodegradeable bags won’t degrade in landfill anyway as they end up squashed under all the other rubbish and aren’t exposed to the natural environment so I’ve never bought them.
I put any poo done in the garden down the toilet and only use bags when out and about but will go try find out if I can get any accurate information on biodegradable bags as I would buy them if it does make a difference.

Tkmaxx do huge rolls of bio degradable ones and they are excellent.

Biodegradable bags are pointless if you are going to put them in an ordinary landfill bin. They are designed so they are degraded by oxygen and sunlight so will sit intact in landfill for just as long as a standard bag. There is also evidence that they can’t breakdown in a compost pile.

Maybe that’s why some dog owners leave poo bags hanging on branches or flung into a bramble patch. They know it’s the only way a biodegradable bag can actually degrade!

🤣🤣 of course that’ll be it. All this time I’ve been judging them for being lazy when really they’re just environmentally sound 🤣

Biodegradable bags are also pretty pointless if you use poo bins in the park etc - it's all incinerated so no chance for anything to degrade.
