Vet bedding

We have a 14 week old Kelpie cross. I'm using (lots) newspaper in his crate but wondered if you think that the PnH vet bedding fleece is worth the price as it's supposed to be washable?
For instance, is it very different to ordinary cheapy fleece pet blankets?
I've read a few reviews that makes me think it's worthwhile buying a roll but my DH thinks it will just get chewed and be a waste of money?
Any advice please?

Does your pup have a bed in his crate?

Vet bed is excellent and washes well. Use as a base and then cover with fleece blanket.

I'm quite averse to spending lots on dog bedding.

But I bought some Vet bed and it's brilliant, washes well, thick enough to be hoovered.

He has newspaper lining the crate with a small cat bed at one end. I have a couple of the cat beds that I rotate and chuck in the wash every day. As he's growing (6kg in 6 weeks) the cat bed is too small and chewed. I've had to do quick repairs to both of them.

What about the potential chewing aspect? My DH is concerned it will be toast within a short space of time.

Vet bed is excellent, we have it on the raised bed and in the car, washes great, almost dry when it comes out the machine.

I first bought vet bed when one of my dogs whelped. The same stuff is still going strong five years later and is used in beds, car and when camping. It was quite pricey if I recall but worth every penny

It's definitely worth buying.
We're still using the same piece bought when lab was a very chewy bitey pup, 8 yrs ago. It's on his bed, and saves washing the whole bed.

Its been washed at 60C every week, and hoovered before washing to collect all the dog hairs.

An other vote for vet bedding! Simply the best when it comes to pet beds. I wash mine regularly (@60°C), it has survived several puppies and still looking good: 4 years later...

Brilliant stuff. May be a bit cheaper her than on the high street vet bed man

I love it. I buy about a metre for springer’s basket. Washes easily - a few at a time in a zip wash bag so there’s not too much hair in the machine. Dries quickly outside or on radiator.
I buy a new piece every now and again, usually if he’s going to stay in someone else’s house.

Thanks everyone. I've ordered some large offcuts from eBay to try it.
