Congestive heart failure

Our beautiful 8 1/2 year old Springer Spaniel was diagnosed last week. Pretty much out of the blue, we thought we would lose her at one point but apparently we just caught it on time. She is now home with medication and the vet has said she has 3-6 months. Just wondering about other people's experiences. She seems perfectly happy, if a bit slower than usual. She doesn't look sick so I'm struggling to get my head around it.

No experience but sending Flowers
I’d make sure I enjoy every single day. Sometimes the vets get it wrong. Either way the uncertainty is hard to deal with.

I'm so sorry to hear. Treasure these moments with her. My doberman was diagnosed with heart failure. She was diagnosed on December 17th and she passed on 8th Jan.

Obviously all are different and I really hope you have longer with her. Flowers

The other thing I will add, is she had a happy (albeit slower) life until the night she passed.

Don’t give up hope.
One of mine was diagnosed two weeks after her ninth birthday. I was told to expect months at best, possibly weeks, but certainly not years. Was floored as she was a toy breed that usually lived well into their teens, two of my others reaching 18 & one a week before her twentieth birthday, so this was a bolt from the blue.
She was put on meds, (which I ended up buying online via a vet prescription as it was expensive) & lived to be thirteen.
Hope you get lots more happy time with her.

Thank you for the replies, obviously every story is different. We are hoping that we/she might be on the luckier side!
