Im adopting two lovely girls. Is been a while since i did a dog tag. What is on your dogs tags pls?

I have it in my head that your not meant to put home address an dtel number or may have been dog name...Dont ask me where I heard that...may have been a facebook thing.

They both are microchipped

On mine reads:

"NERVOUS" (she's a reactive and anxiety-riddled poor mite)
My number, DH's number, dog walker's number
"On meds"

I don't put her name on it. Personal choice as I've read many say it's a bad idea as people find it easier to steal them, call them etc.

Thank you Tea

It's dogs name that shouldn't be on it.

Legally it should have your address although there are people who are against this, as they believe it's giving your address out to anyone that comes along to stroke them. That's probably where you got that idea from.

My dog has got:
Family name and Address and "Microchipped" on one side and phone numbers on the other.

EmmaGellerGreen · 22/02/2018 17:52

Phone numbers, postcode and house number. Definitely no name.

Floralnomad · 22/02/2018 17:56

Mine has our surname on one side and on the other my mobile number , our house No and postcode .

FuckyDucky · 22/02/2018 18:27

Mine has 2 mobile numbers, house number and postcode.
I’ve got Indigo Tags. Lost too many of the dangly ones!

Doctordonowt · 22/02/2018 18:38

Petsathome will supply and engrave
They recommend, your surname, postcode and phone number only

missbattenburg · 22/02/2018 18:46

By law your name and address must be on the collar (address can be house number and postcode only). Penalty is up to £5000 fine (if you get caught etc.).

He/she must wear it anytime they are on a public place.

My dog also has his name, I figure anyone close enough to read it already has control of the dog and I suspect the chances are higher that he is found by someone caring who might find it useful to reassure him with his name. Plus that he is chipped and my phone number on it.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 22/02/2018 18:49

My surname, mobile number, full address. He also has an equivalent one that says Dog Sitter followed by DF's details which he can wear in addition when he's with him (it's another city).

I don't put DDog's name on there, but I'm unconcerned about putting my own address on there as he ignores strangers and they'd be unlikely to get close enough to read his tag, plus he's a mutt, not a breed anyone would bother to break in and steal.

Also, don't go to Timpson's - they once tried to charge me £15 for a tag. This eBay seller has supplied three excellent tags now at £2.19 a pop, though I would recommend swapping the supplied ring for a proper keyring that you'd use for a bunch of keys www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRASS-NICKEL-ENGRAVED-DOG-CAT-ID-NAME-TAG-DISC-PERSONALISED-PET-IDENTITY-TAGS/302007277776?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=600805875598&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I have their names, my telephone number, house number and post code.

They then have another tag that just says ‘microchipped’.

Squirrel26 · 22/02/2018 20:14

Postcode, house number, mobile number, my surname, 'I'm microchipped'. Not his name (although tbh I'm not convinced how well he knows his name, and anyone wanting to steal him would have to catch him first!)

Els1e · 23/02/2018 09:00

I have my surname, phone number, house number and postcode.

joystir59 · 23/02/2018 09:29

My first name and tel no one side, OH's first name and tel no on the other side

thegirlsallgrowedupnow · 24/02/2018 07:36

I like the flat agility type tags that clip onto the collar, no jingly jangling😁
