mummyflood that is so true, he knew my every move at every time of the day. As soon as my hair brush gets put down in the morning, he knew it was time to get in his bed until I was home.

I feel so silly but I am completely heart broken

I am so very sorry.

I knew the time was coming for my 15yr old German Pointer. Her mind was still there but her body was slowly failing.
I came home after dh one day and she was laid in front of the fire. She whimpered/cried with happiness to see me but get up she didn't Sad
I took her to the vet that night. I wish I'd taken her a little earlier, maybe a week earlier.
I loved that dog. My first dog I'd bought as an adult. She was 18months when I had dd, she loved dd and dd loved her.

So sorry to hear about your poor boy OP. Do you have anyone to support you in RL?

isithotinhereorisitjustme · 17/02/2018 19:48

So so sorry - it is utterly awful. We lost our lovely girl at the beginning of the year - like others said we don't get them for long enough at all Flowers

meandmytinfoilhat · 17/02/2018 20:22

I'm so sorry about your beautiful dog. It's heartbreaking when you lose them.

mogloveseggs · 17/02/2018 20:24

I’m so sorry Flowers

rascallyrascal · 17/02/2018 20:25

I'm so sorry. Sending lots of love.

PositivelyPERF · 17/02/2018 20:29

Oh OP, I’m crying reading this. He’s beautiful and the fact that he’s reached this age is a testament to the live and care you’ve given him. Take some comfort in the thought that he has had love and an amazing life with you, that he may not have received elsewhere. Is he your only pet?

Borderterrierpuppy · 19/02/2018 09:37

So sorry OP and it’s not silly to feel so sad, my Grandparents had dogs all their lives and always said that knowing when was time was the last loving thing you can do for your dog xx

Shmithecat · 19/02/2018 09:40

I lost my childhood dog when I was 19 - we got him when I was 3. He was the most glorious black Labrador. Thinking of you today Flowers

loveMyWeeDog · 19/02/2018 09:46

Thinking of you op Flowers

Topseyt · 19/02/2018 13:56

I am so sorry. What a gorgeous boy.

It is so hard when you know that you are facing the dreaded decision. I have been there. I had to have my elderly cat put to sleep on Christmas morning by the out of hours vet. He had overnight finally lost the use of his lower body to a creeping spinal issue. I knew, and it was awful.

Flowers for you.

HuskyMcClusky · 19/02/2018 14:00

He is such a beautiful good boy. 💖

I’m having a cry for you. It’s so, so awful. X

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 19/02/2018 14:10

Thinking of you. My childhood ddog was effectively my only sibling and had her from when we were both 18 months til we were 21!! 4 th August she was pts in 1992.
Flowers and Wineto your forever friend.

AllTheWayDown · 19/02/2018 14:24

Oh op I've got tears in my eyes. He is beautiful. I'm so sorry you're going through this. When my first dog died I sent his paw print off to a place that scaled it down and it's now on a necklace. I love it and is so precious. Might be a nice thing for you to remember him if it's your sort of thing? Sending you lots of love and Thanks xx

Whatdoiladymcbeth · 19/02/2018 14:30

I hope it went/goes as well as it could for you today OP. Never feel like you can’t be upset, they’re a huge part of the family and you two sound especially close. He’s very handsome OP.

StandardPoodle · 19/02/2018 18:21

I am so sorry. What a stunning boy he was.
As a friend said when I lost our old girl - 3 years ago now - it doesn't get any easier does it.
Thinking of you.

JollyRanchers · 27/02/2018 12:54

I love the necklace idea ❤️
