Breed specific Fb groups/forums, is it really?

So I am in various (too manySmile) groups and forums for my breed of dog! I love it and its brilliant to see other dogs doing the same as mine and we're all gushing of all the goofy things they're doing ! But it got me thinking, every time a photo is posted, the comments are like : only a xxx would do that! And : typical xxx! Now my question is surely it's all the same in all other groups of other breeds? Like lying on your back with legs in air or are there breed specific things that other breeds don't do?Wink

I think some things are common to certain breed groups, rather than specific breeds. (Eg terriers down holes etc)

Yoko - what breed is yours? Greyhounds lie on their back with their legs in the air. Maybe other breeds do it too.

BiteyShark · 04/02/2018 06:58

I think some things are more common in certain breeds but it's not a given. I have a spaniel and he loves lying on his back with his legs up but he doesn't do it all the time so perhaps much less than a greyhound for example.

Here's my spaniel on his back with everything on show. Maybe it is a spaniel thing?

I think we are in the same groups! I take it with a pinch of salt, mine are not very typical ITs but they do lie on their backs with their legs in the air —spaniels do it too—

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 04/02/2018 07:46

It’s the way the IT lies on her back with her legs in the air - elegant and couldn’t care less like (greys just don’t pull it off with the same poise Grin)

Chihuahuas seem to have a little chihuahua dance.

They stand tall on their back legs and wave their front legs to get attention.

Some toy breeds do this too like poodles but it's a very common chihuahua thing

I think it's more down to people naturally seeking things in common tbh. Our dog is an absolute mongrel and regularly sleeps on his back with his legs splayed everywhere (spaniel/greyhound), disappears down drains and culverts after rats (terrier), talks/sings to us when excited (retriever)... I mean, it's possible he has all of those somewhere in his heritage Grin

My younger two labs do the legs in the air thing. Can't ever remember the oldest lab or the spaniels doing it though
