Urggh. Just looked at his FB page. Really wish I hadn’t. Angry

mustbemad17 · 25/01/2018 11:25

Fairfax people will have been too scared of the results!

mustbemad17 · 25/01/2018 11:35

It eill be really interesting to see what owners who 'control' their dogs with e-collars do once this ban is policed. Shame, they'll have to actually make an effort to train their pets

FairfaxAikman · 25/01/2018 11:49

@mustbemad17 think it was more they decided to drop doing campaigns for a while - apparently people didn't like them.

FairfaxAikman · 25/01/2018 11:54

We have a woman in our village who uses one and her timing is appalling, so even if they were a proper training tool she'd be using it wrong.
Her dog once jumped and got ham out of my treat bag, by the time she'd fumbled with the remote and administered the shock the dog already had four feet on the ground and the ham was gone - so the dog would have had no idea what it was being punished for.
The same woman always states how well trained our three (two DFs and one mine but always together) are. Hmm

mustbemad17 · 25/01/2018 11:57

Yeah people don't like anti-lazy campaigns sadly

Chugalug · 25/01/2018 13:31

So is this collar legal in England

Chugalug · 25/01/2018 13:32

Untill today i had no idea these even existed,I can't even belive that someone would of thought of this being a good idea, and someone else else agreeing and buying it...I can't even belive it's actually a thing..

LilCamper · 25/01/2018 13:33

Yes still legal in England sigh

I have met "Shoddy Birk" and he offered to take my dog "fix her" and bring her back, wouldn't actually tell what he would do to "fix her" I have never been so horrified in my life I think the look on my face said it all!

She has dog aggression issues we found another trainer who trained us how to retrain and help the dog!

mustbemad17 · 25/01/2018 13:55

Rose your dog is lucky you stood your ground. His method of curing a dog of aggression is to shock the shit out of it every time it reacts. Makes the poor things more dangerous & unpredictable in my view

FairfaxAikman · 25/01/2018 14:32

@mustbemad17 also doesn't solve the problem, merely suppresses the outward signs.

It's like if a gonna was shocked for being scared of spiders - they might stop screaming but they'd still be scared (both of the spider and of getting a shock)

mustbemad17 · 25/01/2018 14:37

Yeah if someone shocked me over spiders i'd be harbouring some pretty murderous feelings towards wherever the shocks were coming from!!

Bananalanacake · 25/01/2018 14:39

I read the subject as "Shock, collars have been banned in Scotland" and thought so what do you attach the dog lead to, a jacket? I didn't know shock collars existed. I don't have a dog though.
