Foxes

Hi our lovely dog has started waking during the night and barking - only over the last couple of weeks. We are absolutely certain it's because he can hear foxes in the garden as for example just now we heard a fox outside and he jumped up and started barking. He's not normally a very barky dog and is four years old.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution or do you have any suggestions. It's annoying for us at three in the morning but even more so I don't like the thought of him being stressed.

Can you try and mask the noise? Something like a white noise machine at night?

You could try to get him used to the sound of foxes - just play them on Youtube several times a day - with my dogs it worked with doorbells, cats, wolves howling, and to a certain extent even fireworks!
The wolves was just to see their face really. But now they sleep through it.

Thanks both of you for replying with your good ideas. Actually I might try the fox noises on you tube to let him realise there's nothing to worry about I hadn't thought of that!

Lol at wolves not sure we have many of them around these parts 😂
