Post-op care for spaying

My dog is being done tomorrow and we live in a three storey house,with lounge on middle floor. She goes up and down stairs to go out to wee. Will this be an issue post-op does anyone know? ALso, she sleeps upstairs with us - again, will this be a problem?

Our dog was spayed last week, we live in a bungalow so can’t comment on stairs but it was hard to get her to walk into the garden for a wee on the day of the op! She also couldn’t climb onto “her” armchair so slept on her bed on the floor.

I’d say it possibly will be an issue for a day or so - can you carry her at all?

Thanks for reply. She's at vets now. The nurse said probably best to carry her for a couple of days but as she's 26kg it would not be good for us to do this for 2 weeks. Going to keep busy, I'm missing my furry lump 😢

Mine was very wobbly and confused for the first day after neuturing and he actually fell off the side of the bed . I had lifted him onto the bed but didn't spot him in time when he woke up and tried to have a scratch at the edge of the bed and fell off in his dozy state. I would therefore be very careful with her around stairs.

If I were you I’d try and keep her on the ground floor if you can. Going up and down stairs isn’t ideal. If she insists on doing stairs, either carry her or walk next to her to make her go slowly.

Mine didn't want to do anything but sleep for the first 24 hours, but after that it was hard to keep her still, completely back to normal. If she's small enough to carry then carry her up and down the stairs. If not then try and get her to go up and down slowly, maybe put her lead on her to control the speed.

Thanks guys. She's sparko on the sofa and has been for hours. She's 26kg and a large poodle cross so carrying her will be hard, but necessary. Her body suit looks cute!!
