Hi,

Advice please! Not sure what's gone wrong, but the last couple of mornings we've come downstairs to several piles of poo Confused She was a good puppy with training, with the odd set back, so it's just not like her.

Is it common for them to still have the odd set back? Or could she just be getting comfortable with the idea of using the living room as a toilet? Hmm

She recently had a bath (first in a month!) and then we threw her old bedding out, got her a new bed and deep cleaned everywhere, so could she perhaps be marking her territory?..

TIA

Are you letting her out late enough at night to give her the opportunity to have a poo? Equally maybe you aren't hearing her in the morning when she needs the toilet and she is forced to go?

Mine often needs to poo last thing at night and first thing in the morning.

Could she have had a poorly stomach? Any change in food or times.

When mine has had the odd setback I used to be extra vigilant and go back to praising when they did it outside so I would be tempted to take her for a short walk very late at night so she is encouraged to poo and then praise and maybe just get up a bit earlier in the morning (or use a camera) so you can see if she just can't hold on any longer to be let out.

Thanks, bitey.

No change in her diet. Fed at the same time... perhaps a little later. She's always let out just before we go to bed. I suppose this morning it was a bit looser, so maybe she just has an off tummy. We're up for 7 in the week and at the weekend, she scratches at the door to let us know, although sometimes it's just because she misses us.

I wouldn't normally panic, but we're in the process of selling the house!

Ours had setbacks with housetraining around that age. It passed (as it were).

Maybe double down on giving her a consistent routine for a few weeks so she learns how long she's got to hold it for.

Thanks, tiny.

She did it again this morning Sad I fed her earlier, kept a close eye on her....movements. She seemed to be up to date, so was quite surprised when I came down this morning to poo everywhere! Honestly, our carpet is ruined! Do thinks it must just be an off tummy situation, but she's NEVER done it three times in a row. Not even when we first had her at 10 weeks.

Tequilaitmakesmestupid I would get a camera or baby monitor so you can hear her stir and then run down and take her out and praise. Whether it's a bad tummy or not she isn't making enough noise to alert you that she needs to poo in the night/early morning.
