I have a nearly 15 week old JRT. He is doing really well, mostly looks at the lounge door when he needs to go out but obviously still has the odd accident.

He is in his crate (locked) downstairs at night. He sometimes sleeps through but never cries when we go to bed. He whimpers at around 5am to let me out (clearly doesn’t like going in crate with pad down) and goes straight back in and back to sleep.

How soon was it before you ‘trusted’ your pup and he was having no accidents?

I am feeding him a little bit too much perhaps. 3 meals a day but he suffered from a bad case of roundworm at 12 weeks as breeder didn’t worm properly Hmm so was a little underweight but back on track now and lovely and sticky Grin

I wouldn't trust a pup until they were over 6 months tbh - they get distracted and over excited

They should have 3 meals a day until at least 4 months, if not 6 as their tummies are so small.

Thanks. That makes sense. I’m amazed by how rapidly he’s developing so 6 months is probably right.

So I should continue letting him out at night when he asks?

Yes, and I'd take the pad out of his crate - it's for sleeping, not weeing!
